Yamaguchi University celebrated 200th anniversary of the foundation in 2015 and is the third oldest national university in Japan. Yamaguchi University, leading university of the region, boasts seven faculties and nine graduate schools, with approximately 9000 undergraduate students and 1800 graduate students. Yamaguchi Prefecture, where the university locates, led the Meiji Restoration. Also, it played a central role in Japan's transition to a modern nation and is the center of manufacturing today. Graduate School of Innovation and Technology Management was established in 2005 as one of the first professional graduate schools of management of technology (MOT). The graduate school has educational philosophy ofׁ ultivation of human resources who combine systematic knowledge and practical expertise to create innovation sustainably." In accordance with the philosophy, it has been producing a lot of quality graduates by providing the state of the art but practice-oriented MOT education in Ube, Fukuoka and Hiroshima, as the only one MOT professional graduate school in West Japan. International program, in which all courses are taught fully in English at Tokiwa campus (Ube), started in 2013.
