Specific subject research

Our Initiatives

The goal of education at the Technology Management (MOT) Professional Graduate School is for students to acquire the ability to tackle various problems in society, companies, and organizations from a multi-angle perspective of technology and management. For this purpose, not only the acquisition of individual specialized knowledge and skills, but also the search of the problem. In order to give a creative solution to the problem, knowledge and skill should be compared to the problem to be solved and experience is needed to utilized them collectively and selectively. From this point of view, the issues set by oneself in the fields related to technology and management can be solved from a compound eye perspective of technology and management, by integrating the knowledge and skills acquired through lectures, exercises, and case study. Specific subject research is a creative approach that aims to achieve this.

Therefore, as a result of specific subject research, it is required to meet the following requirements.

• The knowledge and skills acquired at the professional graduate school are being utilized.

• Proper and valid logical development.

• Data to be examined and considered must be collected by a reasonable method and its reliability must be ensured. Appropriate analysis methods must have been selected. Claims and recommendations should be creatively invented and does not simply reiterate what has already known.

• Must have at least two of the following:

o Usefulness: It is expected to contribute to society, industry, companies, organizations, etc., rather than simply listing individual impressions and survey results.

o Feasibility: Claims and recommendations are feasible

o Academic value: Content that has academic value in terms of objectivity, stringency, universality, novelty, originality, etc.

How to proceed & schedule

In specific subject research, students select a subject theme while assuming their future career path and proceed with their research independently. Each student will be accompanied by one main academic advisor and a secondary academic advisor, who will provide guidance through discussions on how to proceed with the research and its contents. During this time, three presentations will be held in front of all faculty members. Other students will also participate in the recital, but if the research theme is related to the business content of a specific company, it can be kept private and explained only to the faculty member.
